An Important Update About JobFit Assistant

If you use the JobFit Assistant to tailor your resume, prepare for interviews, or work through a job application, I want to let you know about an upcoming change to how you access it.

What is changing?

ChatGPT is changing the technology used to provide customized tools like JobFit Assistant.

Today, you access JobFit by clicking the JobFit Assistant link and opening it as a customized version of ChatGPT. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is changing how tools like JobFit are built and accessed.

You may hear the term “plugin” associated with this change. You do not need to understand plugins or do anything technical. It simply means that JobFit will eventually run through a newer part of ChatGPT rather than through the type of public link you use today.

What does this mean for you?

For now, very little. Continue using JobFit Assistant through your existing link.

If you already have a JobFit conversation for a particular job opportunity, I recommend continuing in that same conversation. Your existing thread contains the work you have already completed for that application.

You do not need to install anything, change your ChatGPT settings, or create a new JobFit session because of this announcement.

Is JobFit Assistant going away?

No. I am working on moving the JobFit experience to the new system while preserving the workflow you already know. The goal is for JobFit to continue helping you compare your resume with a job description, identify gaps, strengthen your resume, prepare for interviews, and position yourself for the opportunity.

The technology behind JobFit is changing. The purpose of JobFit is not.

Will my current JobFit link always work?

That is the part that may eventually change. Because OpenAI is changing how customized ChatGPT tools are shared, there may come a point when the current public JobFit link is replaced by a new way to access JobFit.

You do not need to figure that out yourself. When there is something you need to do, I will provide clear, step-by-step instructions, including where to go and what to click.

What should I do right now?

Keep using JobFit the way you normally do. If you are actively working on an application or preparing for an interview, keep your existing JobFit conversation rather than deleting it.

If you receive another update from me about JobFit access, please read it. That message may contain the new instructions you will need to continue using JobFit.

One last thing

I know changes to technology can be frustrating, especially when a tool you rely on is working perfectly well for you today. My priority is to make this transition as simple as possible. You should not have to understand the technology behind JobFit to use it.
